How It Works

Resource packs primarily replace assets such as textures, sounds and models. A pack can make the world appear different, but it should not be assumed to extend the terrain data your game receives or the chunks it actively simulates.

Visibility vs Loading

A clearer atmosphere can make existing terrain easier to see. That visual improvement is different from loading terrain beyond the current distance. Fog-related features also depend on the edition and rendering configuration.

System Requirements

Check whether a download also needs a shader, add-on or mod. Those components have separate compatibility requirements. Compare the same location with the pack enabled and disabled before crediting it with an increased view range.
