Find a Viewpoint

Climb to a safe hilltop and let the surrounding terrain load before planning your route. Rivers, coastlines and mountain silhouettes can help you choose a direction. A wider view is most useful when you pause long enough to read it.

Travel Settings

Traveling through unexplored terrain can demand more work than walking around a base. Test your distance while moving in the way you normally explore. Lower it if repeated loading pauses make navigation difficult.

Navigation

Record coordinates or use your usual navigation tools before leaving home. Weather, terrain and multiplayer limits can reduce visibility unexpectedly. A distant landmark is useful context, but it should not be your only way to find a route back.
